Observership Program

Istanbul Voice Center offers a structured clinical observership for physicians who want to observe subspecialty laryngology in practice: office-based procedures, phonosurgery, swallowing evaluation, and the day-to-day running of a focused voice clinic.

Who it is for

The programme is designed for otolaryngologists, laryngology and voice fellows, and senior otolaryngology residents. It suits physicians who already practise in the field and want direct exposure to office-based technique and to the workflow of a single-focus institute. It is an observership, not a hands-on surgical fellowship: participants observe, discuss, and learn, and do not operate on patients.

Program structure

Observerships run from one to four weeks, arranged around the clinic calendar. Over that time a participant can expect to observe:

  • Office-based procedures: injection augmentation, botulinum toxin injection, in-office laser, and sensory nerve procedures.
  • Phonosurgery in theatre, including microlaryngeal surgery and framework surgery.
  • Flexible endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES) and stroboscopic voice assessment.
  • Clinic operations: how a subspecialty voice service is organised, from assessment through treatment planning to follow-up.

The range and number of cases a participant sees depends on the clinic schedule during their stay. The institute performs more than 300 office-based procedures a year, so visiting physicians can expect substantial exposure to office technique in particular.

Requirements to apply

Applicants should submit:

  • A curriculum vitae.
