Necati Enver, MD

Necati Enver is a laryngologist and academic, and the founder and director of Istanbul Voice Center. He holds the academic title of Associate Professor. His clinical and research work is confined to a single field: disorders of voice and swallowing.

Training

Necati Enver trained in otolaryngology and then narrowed his focus to laryngology, the surgery and medicine of the larynx. From 2019 to 2020 he completed a laryngology fellowship at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, across Weill Cornell Medicine and Columbia University, with clinical time inside the Sean Parker Institute for the Voice. That period set the direction of his practice: subspecialty depth, a strong emphasis on office-based technique, and clinical work tied closely to research and teaching.

Practice

He returned to Türkiye in 2020 and built a dedicated voice and swallowing service within a university setting, where his academic career was based. In January 2025 he established Istanbul Voice Center as a full-time independent institute, concentrating clinical care, research, and training under one roof.

His clinical focus is office-based laryngology, vocal fold paralysis and reinnervation, retrograde cricopharyngeal dysfunction, and gender-affirming voice care. Laryngeal reinnervation is performed by only a small number of surgeons worldwide. He is among them, performs both unilateral and bilateral reinnervation, and teaches the technique as a faculty member of the Rouen Laryngeal Reinnervation Course.

Academic roles and research

Necati Enver serves on the board of the European Laryngological Society and directs its Media Committee. He is involved in the work of the European Examination Board in Laryngology, and takes part in CEORL-HNS and IFOS activity.

His research follows the questions that arise in clinic. Four lines recur: sulcus vocalis, studied clinically, in an animal model, and through deep-learning diagnosis; office-based laryngology and the quality of training for it; laryngeal dystonia, including the first population study of the condition from Türkiye; and artificial intelligence applied to laryngeal imaging and diagnosis, alongside the ethics of generative AI in otolaryngology. As of 9 July 2026, public bibliometric profiles record an h-index of 14, an i10-index of 22, and approximately 765 total citations.
