Laryngeal Dystonia

The question. Laryngeal dystonia (including spasmodic dysphonia) is under-recognised and its epidemiology in the region is poorly described. Who are these patients, and how do they present?

The approach. Clinical characterisation of a diagnosed patient cohort, describing demographic and clinical features, alongside review work on the changing understanding of the condition’s mechanisms and treatment.

Current status. Published work includes Demographic and clinical characteristics of our patients diagnosed with laryngeal dystonia (European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, 2024), the first population study of laryngeal dystonia from Türkiye. See Publications for links.

Collaboration. We welcome collaboration on registry and treatment-outcome studies in laryngeal dystonia.
